TUAKAU TOWN BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board was held on Tuesday night, when there were present: Messrs. Dynes Fulton (chairman), Jas, Pirrett, B. G. Geraghty, W. Barnaby, Geo. Lapwood, J. M. Mungall, Chas. Finch, together with the clerk (Mr. A./ H. Tapper). Building Permit. A building permit was granted Mr j W. Woodbridge for the erection of n : building for Mrs. M. Irving. Progress Payment. The Public Works Department ad- i vised that £157 Os 8d had been plac- j ed to the credit of the Doanl as a | progress payment for the work now j in hand in connexion with George i Street grant of £ISOO. Train Service. The supervisor of the manual and j technical branch of the Education j Board (Mr. J. P. Overhead Bridge. On the motion of Mr. Pirret it i was decided to again drawn the j Prime Minister's attention to the fact : that the board desired to proceed j with the work on Harrisville Hill, i and request the Railways' Depart- j ment's intention with regard to the j George Street overhead bridge. The clerk was instructed to ■state { that the matter had been under <on- ( sideration by the board and Depart- | ment for some times, but so far no j finality had been reached. He was j instructed to urge upon Mr. Massay ' to expedite the matter. Deputation. It was decided to intimate to the Raglan County Council that a depu- j tation consisting the chairman j and Mr. Barnaby would wait on the ; council in regard to local affairs. j Finance. Accounts amounting to •:<!) 13s 7d I general account, and lis 4d loan j account were passed for payment. ' The bank overdraft on the general ( account was shown at SBOO 8s lid, j while the loan account showed a ere ' dit balance of K'i4s 0s 7d. Duty on Cement.
A circular letter similar to that appearing in our report of the Papakura Town Board's meeting w.ith re,gar<l to the removal of duty on cement, was received from the Hamilton Borough Council. On the motion of Messrs Mungall and Pirret, it was decided to support the proposal, and the clerk was instructed to write to the Minister concerned through the member for the district urging that duty on cement be remitted.
