ALFRISTON AND BROOKBY.
An old and highly-respected resident of the district passed away on Thursday, July 1, in the person of Mrs. Fanny Elizabeth Mclnnes, aged 68. Mrs. Mclnnes came out to New Zealand 58 years ago, and has resided in Alfriston for the past 30 years. Her husband, the late John Mclnnes, predeceased her by 15 years. Mrs. Mclnnes leaves a grown-up family of eleven, seven sons and four daughters, another daughter having died during the recent epidemic. The funeral took place at Christ Church, Alfriston, on Saturday afternoon, the officiating minister being the Hev. 0. It. Hewlett, of Drury. There was a very huge following, and the rloral emblems were both numerous and beautiful. Mrs. Mclnnes had good health to the last, having attended church on the Sunday previous to her death; and just the day before she visited a married daughter near Pu-1 lekohe. She went to bed that.night! the same as usual, and apparently passed away in her sleep. j
