PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB

MEET AT RAMARAMA.

The Pakuranga Hunt Club held its meet for the second time this season

at Ramarama on Saturday. Promptly at noon hounds were thrown off on Mr. Holmes' property, and .a hare was soon found which gave a very smart and enjoyable run for about two miles, and was killed on Mr. Harris' property. On this run hounds were on a breast-high ;cent, and for the latter part of the run had the hare almost in view, so the pace was a "cracker." After a short respite another hare was found in

Mr. W. Flay's property. This hare gave the best run that the Pakuranga hounds have had for many years. The pace was again very fast. The hare followed a line through a lot of lowlying, wet country. This made it impossible for followers to keep the line, and they were pleased to

join in at intervals where possible. This must have been at least a fivemile run before the hare was run into and killed on Mr. Ballard's pro-

perty. Followers and friends then assembled at the Ramarama Hall, where refreshments were provided by

the ladies of Ramarama. Mr. Ben Myers apologised for the master's absence, and thanked the ladies of Ramarama for their kindness and hospitality. He mentioned that it was recognised it would not be very long before the Pakuranga Hunt Club would require to shift its centre of hunting operations farther afield, in which case Ramarama or Drury would be the most likely places from which hunting operations would be centred. He also remarked upon the

ine class of horses that were in evilence that day, and mentioned that

the club intended to hold its point-to-point steeplechase at Rairuvama at the end of the present hunting season.

Hounds were thrown off a third

time on Mr. Dan Lynch's property, but after half an hour's hunt the lateness of the hour made it imperative to abandon puss on Mr. Rowley's property. Among those present and following were: Messrs C. Allen, W. Burnside, ,j. Buchanan, F. Burnside, H. Hattaway, H. Dellow, jun., Phillips, Duval (acting-master), Medcalf (huntsimn), Whitford (whip), Chas. Wallace, Millington, and Ben Myers. Those from

Ramarama were: The Misses Flanagan and Holinwoods, Messrs. Dan. Lynch, B. Flanagan, the Markham brothers, T. Duffy, J. Dufty, J. W. Peters, Holmes, Bremmer, B. Flanagan, Mr. and Mrs. Bayliss, and many others.
