SATURDAY'S MATCHES

Results at a Glance: Senior: Mercer forfeited to Waiuku. Clevedon 14, beat Onewhero 0. Tuakau and Pukekohe match postponed. Junior: Pukekohe 6 v. Tuakau 0. Patumahoe won by default from Waiuku. Clevedon beat Onewhero.

The Franklin Rugby Union's competitions were continued on Saturday in heavy rain, and on grounds that were almost covered with water.

Rain commenced early on Saturday morning, but at one o'clock the indications pointed to the weather clearing for the afternoon's matches: Instead the rain commenced to fal' heavily, and continued throughout the afternoon. The Pukekohe senior team journeyed to Tuakau, but by mutual consent between the teams the game was postponed, and is to be played at the end of the season if necessary. Mercer forfeited to Waiuku, while Clevedon defeated Onewhero at Tuakau by 14 points to 0. Tries for the winners were scored by H. Alexander, Ifwerson, A* Dow, J. Appleby, one of which was converted by H. Alexander. Mr. A. Cornthwaite, of Patumahoe, refereed. In the junior competition vVaiuku forfeited to Patumahoe, while Pukekohe defeated Tuakau by 6 pciiits to 0. R. Tonkin scored a try for Pukekohe, and H. Jones kicked a penalty goal. Mr. F. Burgess refereed. The Clevedon juniors easily defeased the Onewhero juniors at Papakura.
