FAREWELL SOCIAL AND PRESENTATION.

POPULAR POSTAL OFFICIALS.

The Manurewa Theatre was comfortably filled on Tuesday evening last, when a concert and dance w»s tendered to the late postal officii! !s, Mrs and Mr. Pattullo, who have but recently resigned the position and are leaving the district. The concert was of a high artistic mrvit, and was greatly appreciated. The following artists assisted: Misses Lilian Braithwaite and Fuller (s< loists), Miss Hicks (elocutionist), Misses Moroney (3), instrumentalists; Mr. Moroney (instrumentalist), and Mr. T. Seaton (soloist). All the .terns rendered were repeatedly encored. At the conclusion of the concert, Mr. T. J. Corin made the following presentations. The speaker said that such examples of civility and devotion to public duty as had been experienced in the post office at Manurewa were worthy of acknowledgment. The presentations were, however, not for services rendered, but as tokens of esteem in which all the recipients were held. The present to Mrs. Pattullo was a very handsome solid silver collapsible cake dish; to Miss Vera Warlich (who had been Mrs. Pattullo's able lieutenant for several years), a gold bangle; and to Mr. Pattullo a silver flask; all suitably inscribed. Mr. Pattullo suitably acknowledged the gifts. The speaker said they had not run the office on strictly red-tape lines, but had endeavoured to oblige one and all, with the result they had never had a cross word with anybody—a record he should always be proud of. After the customary song, 'For They are Jolly Good Fellows," the hall was cleared, and dancing was indulged in to well into the early hours of the morning. The Misses Grey and Mr. Littlewood supplied the music. A very line supper was provided under the management of Mrs. Jukes, and to this lady and Mr. T. J. Corin and committee great credit is due; also to the organisation of the collection, some £2O being subscribed. The valediction was o successful public function.
