TOWN HALL SITE.
DECISION ARRIVED AT. PUBLIC-SPIRITED GIFT. A special meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council was held on Wednesday night, when there were present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr." C. K. LawrieX and Crs. G. N. Armstrong, A. P. Daysh, J. H. Keith, R. H. -McGough, together with the clerk (Mr/J. F. Deane). The Mayor moved, seconded by Cr. Daysh, "That as Mr. J. Kennelly was not willing to sell more than one-eighth of an acre of land adjacent to the council's section in Harrington Avenue, the resolution passed at the ordinary meeting of the council held on April 21, authorising a poll of'ratepayers to be-taken on the question of Town Hall site be rescinded."—Carried.
The Mayor moved and Cr. Daysh seconded that the council purchase a site of one acre adjacent to the bowling green, and at the corner of Edinburgh Street and Roulston Avenue for the sum of £I2OO from Mr. Roulston.—Carried. Cr. Keith moved and Cr. McGough seconded, "That the Mayor and- Crs. Armstrong and Hamilton be thanked for their services in waiting 91, Mr. Roulston in connexion With his"'" gift of land to the borough.'*—Carried.
It was moved by Cr. Armstrong and seconded by the Mayo l ' and carried, "That this council accept with thanks the gift of about two acres of land in East Street from Mr. W. Roulston, to be used as a war memorial park; and that the thanks of the Mayor, councillors and burgesses be conveyed to Mr. Roulston for his generous and public-spirited gift.".
