A SCENIC RESERVE REQUIRE!
To-day there is 'vv littlo native bush left handy to the town of Pukekohe, and what there is still standing is gradually being destroyed. It is a thousand pities that, year after year, the chances of securing a block of native bush as a scenic reserve for Pukekohe are ljapidly dwindling. But it is rot yet too late, as one or two beauty spots are still left, though already partly spoiled. No doubt the Pukekohe Borough Council could buy such a property, bul in view of the heavy expenditure the council is now committed to, it is naturally reluctant to en,bark on any commitments '.vrich may not be immediately reproductive. The spending of municipal money has done much, and will do t. great deal more, to enhance the values ol p toperties in and near the borougli, and it certainly would be a graceful act if some old settler who has done handsomely out of his Kikekohe property would donate such a beauty spot, or the funds to buy it, as a gift to Franklin. An act of beneficence of this kind would oerpetuate the name of the donor in the memory of future generations as one who, while having been able to provide weld for himself and his family, had also been capable, generous and public-spirited enough to leave something for the permanent enjoyment of posterity.
