On the workers' dwelling question the Waipa County Council's solicitors wrote stating that the Counties Amendment Act, 1913, empowered a County Council to purchase land and erect thereon workers' dwellings, or to purchase land with buildings already elected thereon fow the purpose of workers' dwellings. The Advances to Settlers' Department is bound by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913. This letter was received at last Tuesday's meeting. Mr Mandeno explained various details of the legislation on the subject.
