FRANKLIN WINTER SHOW
EXCELLENT PROGRESS. COMPREHENSIVE ARRANGEMENTS. SPECIAL TRAIN SERVICE. The Winter Show secretary, Mr. D. R. Hamilton, reports that matters in connection with the show are progressing satisfactorily. In spite of the many hindrances the buildings will now be ready in time. An expensive electric lighting system is being installed in,the buildings and on the grounds, under the supervision of Mr. W. W r yatt, the borough engineer. A
The roadway and footpaths leading from the station are being put in a thorough state of repair in anticipation of the heavy tiaflic they will be subjected to during the four days of the show. An invitation has been sent to all the scholars attending the primary schools to attend the show on Friday, the 21st, Children's Day. Special trains at holiday rates leaving Auckland at 12 noon and returning at 9 p.m. in the evening are being arranged for Saturday, the 22nd inst. Satisfactory prices have been obtained for the right to sell soft drinks, sweets and fruit, also for luncheon and afternoon tea. Representatives are to receive entries and act in a general way for the Winter Show. Committees have been appointed in the outside districts.
It has been decided to extend the closing of entries to Tuesday, the 11th. but the secretary trusts that intending exhibitors will forward same at once to facilitate the compiling of the catalogue.
