ANY BEER ALLOTTED?

AWHITU SUBDIVISION. A letter containing proposals for the allotment of loan monies to be spent in connexion with the Awhitu No. 4 subdivision (Awhitu Riding) was received by the Franklin County Council on Thursday, as follows: The committee appointed by the ratepayers in this subdivision have allotted the loan money—£247o—to be spent as follows: £2OO shelling Watson's Flat. .100 on Watson's Hill and Freeman's Hill.

£IOO on M. Harvey's Hill. £SO on shelling bad part of road across bridge from M. Harvey's. £IOO on shells for Wharf Road.

£ls grading T. Furniss' Road. £2OO forming and shelling Kelland's Road from end of present' metal. £2OO grading Cook's Road. V 275 shelling Craig's Road. £2OO grading and shelling DickeyGleeson Road. £3OO forming and shelling Gordons Road. £75 on Kohekohe boundary road, subject to Kohekohe spending same amount. £25 on Westhead's Gully Road earthwork.

£SO on top road from Kelland's entrance to W. Gleeson's house (formation)). £IOO on Murfitt's boundary road, subject to Waipipi Riding subsidising same. £IOO from top of Coronation Road to Short's. The balance of money to be spent by council where most needed. If this loan is subsidised by Government the subsidy to be allotted to roads in same proportion as loan. Several portions of the letter were underlined with heavy red lead crayon lines. Somehow the council seemed to view a number of the proposals in a humorous light, a southern member asking if there was any beer alloted in the scheme. However, the whole thing jwas conveniently referred to the riding member, and will doubtless entertain the council on a future occasion.
