DANGEROUS ROAD
TRAP OVERTURNED. LITTLE CIKL JN.irilF.n.(Contrihuted.) Last Saturday the Papakura IVesbyterian annual picnic was held at Kanaka. On the return journey there were 11 lot of vehicles on the road, which all had to pass thnuiffh a narrow pari of the road, Hanked on both sides bv steen banks. A horse being driven bv Mr. Jephson, oi Papakura, took fright, ran up the embankment and upset the trap, which was smashed to pieces. A little girl named Muriel Andrews was thrown into a barbed-wire fence, and severely cut about the body. ' It is slated that no fewer than five petitions have at various times been presented to the Franklin County Council praving for improvements to be made to this part of the road, which has a sinister reputation for accidents, many vehicles having been overturned there. There is also a dangerous n'laee on the Great South Road, near Mr. Alt'. Willis's property, which is only 17ft wide, and, in view of the motor traffic, is bound tn cause accidents if not speedih attended 10.
