COMPULSORY VOTING.

Mr. R. L. Paterson, of Wellington, was credited with stating at the recent conference of Chambers of Commerce that compulsory voting would be passed next session, and that for this he had the word of the Prime Minister himself. Mr. Paterson says the report is incorrect, and what he did say was. ihat no doubt compulsoiy voting would become law next session, as he had the word of the Prime Minister in favour of the reform.
