PAPATOETOE.
PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD MEETING. The ordinary meeting was held in the board room on March 2. Present: Messrs J. Watson (chairman), J. , Bryant, F. Mulcock, A. Hall, S. McCullough, A. N. Timewell and H. C. Ernest, clerk. A letter was received from the board's engineer (Mr. Spencer) re the proposed roads on Mr Mu!cock's estate, suggesting that he have an interview with Mr. Mulcock's engineer, as there were several matters connected with the plans that ho would like clearing up before recommending the boayd to pass them. Mr. Watson moved and Mr. Timewell seconded that the board authorise the meeting of the engineers as suggsted. The engineer also reported that it would take 240 cubic yards of earth to fill in the comer of Coronation Road to bring it to the station road level. He asked that they arrange for the earth required. In the matter of draining the storm water frpir. Coronation Road the Works were empowered to inspect with power to get the work completed. Several petitions were heard from different pails of the town district praying that attention be given to the footpaths, which in most cases were overgrown with weeds. Mr. Ward (foreman) reported that he was doing all he possibly could to push the work along. The Works Committee were asked to inspect and push the work on where urgently needed. The Manurewa .Town Board wrote suggesting that a meeting be held at Manurewa, Monday, March 8, to discuss matters pertaining to sanitation, sewerage, water supply and bylaws, and inviting the members of the board to be present. It was decided that the whole oi the members attend, seeing the importance to the district of the propositions to be put before the meeting.
The board's solicitor reported that he considered the Tamaki by-laws would be most suitable for the district's present requirements, with it few alterations to suit local conditions.
The board decided to go into committee on the by-laws, and endeavoui to have them ready by Apj.il 1. A letter was received from the Papatoetoe Bowling Club asking for permission to remove about 20 loads of soil from Ponui Hoad. Mr. Hall moved the request be granted. Mr. Timevveil seconded.
The motion was carried. The clerk was instructed co write to the Government Valuation Department asking' for a revaluation of the Town Board district.
A plan was received from Mr. Roakes, carrier, for permit t<> erect stnhif and storeroom. Mr. Hall moved that the plans as received were not satisfactory, and that a permit should not bo granted.
The motion was seconded by Mr Muic6ck and carried.
Several accounts were passed for payment, after which the board went into committee upon the by-l;.v.
