Straying Cattle. A resident of Settlement Roai waited on the board drawing its at tention to the number of cattle tha: were allowed to wander on the roadi at night time. 11% emphasised thi danger that existed, nlso the far that hedges were damaged by th beasts. He urged tthe board to hav the menace obviated.
It was agreed to take steps tohav the nuisance remedied, the ranger to be notified accordingly.
Dominion Road.
Mr. Andrews, who has a property on Dominion Road, urged the board lo improve the road before the winter months set in. It was pointed out that the rpad was to receive attention. The matter was left in the hands of the Works Committee to deal with. Road to be Graded. Mr. J. \V. Gilchrist requested the board to have the x'oad leading to his place graded, while the County Council grader was on the job. On the motion of Mr. Campbell,
was decided to have the work done as far as Wairoa Road, Croskery's Creek The Franklin County Council advised that owners of property in the county, through which Croskery's Creek flowed, had been notified to clear the creek of obstructions.—Received. Recreation Ground and Park Loaa The State Advances Office intimated that the Government Insurance Board had decided to entertain board's application for a loan ol £2OOO foi' the acquirement of a re creation grouflfefeand park* at 5H P®* cent, sinking subject to the sufficiency of the security.—Received! An Unsightly Building. , Mr. J. T. Widdowson protested against the erection of an unsightly building next to lite place. Mr. Kones gave notice of motion to mo\e at next meeting, "that in order to relieve the congestion in the 'traffic along Broadway, the bond open negotiations v. ith the Methodist Chun A trustees for the purchase of a strip of land sufficient for the widening of the street, and that in the event of the said trustees declining to sell, the board take steps under the provisions of the Public Works Act to acquire sufficient land for the purpose."
