FRANKLIN WINTER SHOW

BUILDINGS TO BE ERECTED. The members of the Franklin A. and P. Society met at the showgrounds on Tuesday, the president, Mr. J. N. Massey, presiding over an attendance of about 30 members. , The object of the meeting was to consider the question of erecting a suitable building for winter show purposes. Building Committee's Report. The Building Committee reported having met the architect (Mr. J. Routly), who submitted plans. One was for a structure under one roof, and the other two buildings, each 40ft by 100 ft- connected by a porch, the estimated cost being £ISOO. The committee decided to have two separate buildings erected, connected by an alleyway, in preference to one large building under one roof. It was also decided that the architect proceed and take the necessary steps to have the buildings erected, and that it be an instruction to the architect to construct the structure, to cost not more than 11200, unless 4he members grant an extra £3OO to complete the building. The above came before the executive committee who, after carefuiiy considering the matter, agreed that the sub-committee's recommendation in connexion with the extra €3OO be adopted, subject to the confirmation of the members. The secretary, Mr. D. R. Hamilton, reported that the committee had purchased the necessary iron at a saving of about £2O per ton, and as nine tons had been acquired, it meant a considerable amount. Mr. J. H." Keith said it seemed a pity that a building should be spoiled for the sake of two or three hundred pounds. He moved that the sub-committee's recommendations be adopted, and that the building be constructed according t<> plan lor two separate buildings, connected by an alleyway as soon as possible. Members agreed with Mr. Keitn, and the motion was carried innnimously.
