PAPAKURA. SANITARY SYSTEM. REORGANISATION SUGGESTED. At Monday night's meeting ot' the Papakura Town Board the question of reorganisation of the sanitary system was suggested by Mr. D. v. Jones. He pointed out that the present sanitary contract expired in June next. Mr. Jones gave an outline of the receipts and expenditure since the inauguration of the system. In 1918. the receipts to March 31 were and expenditure £24 ? Ss 7d. In. I?U9 the receipts were £llß 7s Id, Expenditure £237 ss-7d, while up to the present month the receipts amounted to £lB9 5s 9d and the ex penditure £319 2s Bd. Since 1918 the receipts were £309 15s lOd and the expenditure £6OO lis lid. Mr. Jone.; contended that under such a system it was not a profitable undertaking to continue, because since 1918 thev had lost £3OO. The board should undertake the reorganisation of the whole system. The board owned a float, and he suggested the purchase of a horse, harness and dray, and the employment of a man to do the work. The man could do the sanitary work two nights a week, and then could do roadmen's work for two « r three days a week. He claimed that the board would save a consider;'.) e amount of money per annum. The matter was deferred until a later meeting, PUN I. A farewell social and dance and presentation will be tendered to Mi. and Mrs. D. Maloney, who are leaving the district, in the Pur.i Hali on Monday evening next, March 8.
