PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD

INTERIM MEETING. The interim meeting of the above board was held on the 23rd inst. Present: The chairman (Dr. Brookfield), Messrs. T. D. Campbell, D. W. Jones, A. Wallis, E. D. McLennan and S. Evans. Mr. E. Clarke and Mr. J. G. Mack were present to I'muesi that tthe formation of Vii West be continued right through to Railway Street. The board decided to refer the matter to the Works Committee to report at the next meeting of the board. y As His Majesty's Prisons stited that they could not supply broken metal under 2%iri, the board decided to call tenders to have three to four hundred yards of spawls from Mc Kinstry's Creek stacked in the station reserve. As the spawls must be got out of the creek before the wet weather sets in,.-it was decided to make arrangements to have the tenders for consideration at' the boaril meeting to be held on March Ist

Croskrry's Creek.—A letter was receivtil from Mr. V. Hatrick, who wi3OP the board to notify the various property owners affected to have the stream known as Croskery's Creek cleaned out. The board gave instructions for notice to be sent, giving 21 days in which to complete the work. It was aj*». decided to send word to the Franklin County Council to see that the lower part of the stream is cleared so as to alloidr for a free flow. Mr. A. Palmer, of Clevedon, had made application to the board to know what would be the roading requirements if he carried out a subdivision of Eddowe's Estate.—The board decided that the road should of the third-class order, that is, that It be formed with footpaths 12ft wide, and that metalling be done 9ft wide with 6in of metal or river shingle, or 9in of scoria. Tljp work to be finished to the satisfaction of the board. During the afternoon a number of the members of the board and private individuals who were interested met Mr. Mcintosh, engineer for the railway, to discuss the matter of doing away with the level crossing by Mrs. Cave's residence. —On the recommendation of the above meeting, the board decided to write to the Rarilway Department requesting that in place of the level crossing a subway be formed about five chains to the south of the present crossing.
