TENNIS
The Pukekohe Suburban tennis courts were a scene of activity on Anniversary Day, when the noma players met the Mauku tea.ni. A few weeks ago these teams met at Mauku, when a very even game resulted. Consequently both clubs had their best players out on the 29th.
After a long and exciting match, which terminated at dusk, the Mauku team proved the stronger, leading bv 17 games, the totals being, Mauku 150, Suburban 133. The Suburban ladies, in their usual capable manner, provided both lunch and afternoon tea to the large number present, which was duly appreciated.
The following are the sets, Mauku names being mentioned first:— Ladies' Singles.—Mrs. Zinzan lost to Mrs. J. Reynolds, 2—7; Miss Goldsworthy lost to Mrs. May, 3—7; Mrs. O'Connell beat Mrs. Hemming, 7 —1; Miss Wright beat Miss Reynolds, 7—l; Miss Runciman lost to Miss J. Lauer, 6—7; Miss Gillon lost to Miss N. Lauer, 5—7.
