AUCKLAND MARKET REPORT.
Mr. J. Jones, auctioneer, City Markets, reports - sales for week ending January 24. The markets are heavily supplied with potatoes, and values are much lower, and the market still has an easing tendency. Onions show slightly lower rates. Eggs and cheese market lower. Poultry coming forward ■in heavy supply and large proportion being old ducks and young cockerels. Owing to the high cost of feed buyers are not operating heavy in small cockerels. Good heavy birds are still selling exceptionally well for this time of the year. The grain market has a rising tendency, and all lines oF grain are very firm. Pig market much easier. We quote:— Poultry (2744 penned). Hens: Prime, heavy, 6s to 6s 9d; heavy, 5s to 5s 9d; good, 4s to 4s 9d; small and light, 2s 9d to 3s 3d. Ducks: Prime, 5s to 6s; light, young ducks, 3s to 4s 9d; old ducks, Is 9d to 2s 6d. Geese, 6s 6d. Roosters: Prime, 7s to 8s; good, 5s to 6s. Turkey hens, 6s 6d to 8s (id; gobbler, 12s to 18s; chickens, 4d to 9d each. Pigs: Weaners, £1 to £1 10s. . Produce: Potatoes, prime, £lO to £ll 10s; good, £9. Onions, 14s to 17s; kumeras, 2d to 2%d; pumpkins, 16s; butter, Is 4d; eggs, 2s 3d; cheese, Is; bacon side, Is sd; hams Is 6d; farmers' roll bacon, Is Id to Is 3d. Fruit: Apples, dessert, 6s to 8s 9d; cooker, 4s 6d to 6s 9d; plums, 3s 6d to 6s 6d; peaches, 5s to 8s 6d; tomatoes, 10d a lb; lemons, 12s 9d to £l. Grain: Maize, 8s 6d to 9s sd; wheat 9s 9d; oats, 6s sd; bran, 9s 6d; sharps £11; wheatmeal, £l3 10s; barley, 7s (;d; chaff, southern, £ls.
