PUKEKOHE BOROUGH, COUNCIL.

Special Meeting

A special meeting of the above Council was held in the Council Chambers, Edinburgh Street, on Wednesday evening last. The Mayor (Mr 0. K Lawrie) presided, and there were present Councillors Bilkey, Daysh, McGough, Hamilton, Keith, Morrow and Patterson, the Town Clerk (Mr J. T. Deane), and the Borough Engineer (Mr Wyrtt), The Mayor, in opening said the meeting had been called for the purpose of considering the loan proposal to be placed before the ratepayers. The first questions dealt with was the Electric Lighting extensions A. report from Mr Walker C.E. being placed on the table by the Lighting Committee. After considerable discussion it was decided to ask the Borough Engineer (Mr Wyatt) to supply a report to be considered at an adjourned meeting to be called for Wednesday evening next. Other matters dealt with were Mr McArthur's report on roads, footpaths and Franklin Road formation. Purchase of Quarry plant, Waterworks Extension, Drainage and Town Hall requiring in all a total of some £84,000 to carry out the proposals. Cr Daysh gave notice of motion to rescind the minute respecting the half payment by ratepayers for the curbing and channelling.
