A meeting of supporters of the sitting Member for Franklin will be held in the Patumahoe Hall on Thursday, November 13th. Owing to illness, Judge Geo. D Alden was not able to deliver his Chautauqua lecture, yesterday, but will do so on Sunday night, commencing at 8.30 p.m.

On Sunday evening next, in St. James' Church, the residents of Pukekohe will have an opportunity of hearing Mr M. C. Reed, of Washington, deliver his famous address on " Tho Fundamentals of Christianity.,; Mr Reed is a man of brilliant oratorical powers, coupled with tho advantage of a broad education. No doubt the Pukekohe public will welcome this opportunity of hearing him on one of the vital questions of the day.
We understand that an enterprising Tuakau business man, intends to erect up-to-date tea rooms in Tuakau. Re says that the time has arrived when such is badly needed in Tuakau The matter was mentioned at the last meeting of the Tuakau Town Board, and was very favourably received by members, one remarking that the Board members could partake of refreshments after the meetings. Perhaps, but tea rooms do not remain open all night.
The record of rainfall as registered at Belle Vue, Victoria Avenue, Waiuku, during October, is as follows : Rain fell on 13 days, the fall varying from .01 to .71 of an inch, and totalling 282 inches. For the corresponding month during 1915, 1916, 1917 and 1918, the register shows 4.06, 6 48, 4.08 and 6.17 inches respectively. At date of writing (9 a.m., November sth) '54 of an inch has been registered during November.
Pukekohe's progressive chemist (Mr R. G. V. Fear) is about to make extensive alterations to the pharmacy in King Street. The whole building is to be remodelled and made up-to-date in every particular. Mr Fear is an ardent believer in modern methods, and believes in the slogan, " Good service as well as good goods." The shop will be made bigger, with neat attractive furnishings and fittings and everything will be done to make it '' the pleasure buying spot in Pukekohe." At a sitting of the Supreme Court on Thursday, Mr Justice Stiingor presiding, Myrtle Jonas applied for a divorce from her husband, Frederick John Jonas, a taxi driver of Pukekohe. Adultery on the part of her husband being the grounds. The petitioner said she was married in Auckland in 1913, and afterwards lived at Te Aroha. As her husband did not support her, she left him after six months, and had since earned her own living. She commei.eed the divorce pro cecdiugs after her attention was drawn to the fact that the respondent had been adjuged the father of a child born at Pukekohe. A decree nisi was granted, to he made absolute in thieo mouths.
