BACHELORS' BALL Maramarna dances are famed for their sociability, and the Bachflors' Ball, held on Friday, 31st, proved no exception to the rule, being a record for attendance, visitors coming from Waitakaruru, Waerenga, Miranda, Maungatawhiri and K< - puku. The energetic chairman of the committee, Mr Leslie Clark, had a novel scheme of decoration for the hall Four huge punga trees, placed in large drain pipes, were standing in each corner, making cosy sitting out places. The intervening walls were outlined in nikau ferns, arum lilies, and other flowers, while oveihead lycopodeum fern was hung in the form of the Uni n Jack, giving the room quite a continental appearance Mr Arc Lie EnM.ll was M.C. The music, which the dancers consideied "out on its nwr," was *"p plied bv Mescis Serjeant and I)itumcck, < f Waerenga, the repeated encores ; roving theeijoymeut of the dancerF
The committee, which consisted of Messrs '.lark (Chairman), Barton (secretin \l, Eneoll, Mclcner, Focte, Downie Bros., Simmons, McDonald and Heavtn Bros , aie to bo highly congratulated on the great success of their efforts.
Miss Mfiiy Stokes sang •'lndiani*" and in response to a vigorous encore replied with "Rakity Coo." The gath ring H r oke up at daylight, and hopes that the Bachelors' will soon have another entertainment
