FOOTBALLERS' BALL.
A Huge Success. In every sense of the word, the Footballer's Annual Plain and Fancy Dress Ba'l, under the auspices of the Fukekohe Footballers, held in the Premier Hall on Monday night, was an unqualified success. There was an exceptionally large attendance of dancers from all <-ver the distiict. and one, and all, spent a thoroughly enjoyable time. Elaborate arrangements were complete, thanks to the energetic committee, under Messrß E. Ryan and saT'L. Jones, the joint secretaries. lj£b hall was decorated wi'h bunting, while the iloor was in tirst class order.
Quite a number of fancy costumes were worn, by members of the fair sex, the male representatives being very thinly represented, as far as the fancy touch, was concerned. The ladies, indeed, looked very becoming in costumes which were original, and it was with great difficulty that the judges came to a decision, as to the winners of the prizes. The prize for the best dressed lady, presented by Mr W. T. Jones, was annexed by Miss Evans, "Music," while the trophy, for the most original, donated by Mr P Boyd, was secured by Miss L Perkins, "Chautauqua." In the men's section, Messrs A. Oldham, "Day and Night, and Dave Koulston, "Ohiaaman" were awarded the respective prizes, given by Messrs. Geo. Armstrong and E. H. Keating, for the best dressed and most original. The judges were ; Mesdames A. Gill and A. Grigor and Messrs A C. Gill and Ivan A. Motion.
During an interval in the proceedings, Mr Ivan Motion a vicepresident of the Pukekohe Club, presented the trophies, and thanked the footballers for the very pleasant evening. He also presented medals to Messrs W. Reynolds and E. Costello, the most improved senior and junior players, respectively, during the past season. The medals were donated by Messrs C R. Lusher and W. Wright respectively. Excellent dance music was contributed by an orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr J Hindman, consisting of Messrs Burnand (piano), McKay (violin), Smith trombone), J. Hinlman (cornet), Hunter (bass), and F. Duncan (drums), while extras were played by M*s Keane and Miss Ivy Bloxham. The duties of M's.C, were capably discharged by Messrs W. Short, E. Ryan, and J. Blake. Refreshments were handed round, and fully appreciated. Some of the wearers of fancy dresses were: Mesdames Ivan Motion, "Night; " Hook, "Jhinese Lady ;" R H McGough, "Red Cross Nurse;" Misses Qouldston, "Egyptian Lady; " J Motion, "Persian Lady ; " Evans, "Music ;" G Moloney, 'Persian Lady;" V Moloney, "Egyptian Lady; "HA Moloney, "Stars and Stripes;" G Clews, "Gipsy;" M Kensington, "Japanese Lady; " K Kensington, "Gipsy Fortune Teller; " N Lauer, "Bnttanis;" J Lauer, "Oongoleum" (representing F. A slip of paper containing several names was lost by the writer at the hall, and this accounts for several of the names being omitted
Taking everything into considoration the ball was as successful as any yet held in Pukekohe.
