Franklin Technical High School.
Proposed New Building Fine Institution
Judging by the plans, the proposed new Franklin Technical High School will be a building worthy of the great district in which it will be centered, combining the features of utility and architectural beauty to a very fair degree. The building will be constructed in red brick, with tiled roof. It will contain four class rooms, chemical laboratory, teachers' room and cloak room and all conveniences. Ample provision is being made for good lighting and ventilation. The total capacity will be for from S<) to 100 pupils, with the necessary furniture, stationery and lockers, etc.
The staff will probably consist of a headmaster and three assistants, and the courses will consist mainly of general secondary schools course, Civil Service, Senior Matriculation, Natural Science with a bias towards agriculture, domestic science, manual training of a practical nature, and botany. Plots of crops will be laid down in order that actual experiments can be made on the spot, and practical instruction given under such conditions that the results may be directly observed by the pupils. A fully qualified Instructor of agriculture will pay regular visits, and every effort will be made to co-ordinate the work, and achieve really useful purposes.
The school will be under the control of the Auckland Education Board, together with local authority.
