PAPAKURA's PARK oi l Eli WITHDRAWN' Messis Wiilis Bros wroto with drawing their piopeity on Enst and Wellington streets, which was on offer to the Board for Park purposes.—The Board has decided to acquire the endowment known as Messrs Blatik and Davis' property. With regard to Park affairs, the Board's solicitor advised that it was quite in order for the Town Board to acquire the lease of the endowment, the Board being authorised to do so, by section 299 <f the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908. He thought that the surrender should be accepted by special order, ■ under section 141 of the Act.—The chairman moved that the letter be received, and that the Board place on record its appreciation of Messrs. Willis Bros', offer- Mr S. Evans seconded. Dr Brookfield moved as an ; mend ment that the letter be merely r«ceived. He thought the motion was creating a precedent, as in respect to a previous offer, also withdrawn, the Board's appreciation of the offer had not been recorded.
Mr A. Wallis seconded, and the amendment was carried, Dr Brookfield and Messrs Campbell and Wallis voting for, and the chairman against. The other two members, Messrs Evans and McLennan, did not speak.
PARK rUOBLEU AGAIN When the usual meeting was terminated, members spoke informally with regard to the purchase of Messrs Blank and Davis' property, for a park and recreation ground purposes. During a friendly discussion, Mr T. D. Campbell pointed out that if the Board purchased the property, they would have five acres to spare after sufficient had been taken for the park. He added that the Board could let the sections, also the house, He contended that the revenue derived from the sections and house would pay the interest on a loan of £2OOO, and they would have £27 to the good. He thought that to acquire the property would be a sound proposition from a business point of view. FINANCE The paysheet, amounting to £loo 6s was approved and passed for payment. The chairman mentioned that he shortly proposed to call a meeting of ratepayers to lay before them the various loan proposals.
