of which received well desorvod encores, the lnng Mrs W. Fisher and Miss Booth. Mr W Campbell brought down the kouse with his comic recitations, both of which received vociferous encores, to which he responded with otherß equally as good, Mr A Mclnnes, in his address of welcome, paid a glowing tribute to our men, and the N.Z. Army as a whole.
Staff Sgt. W. Mclnnes who had marched his men into the strains of "Sons of Empire," responded suitable for himself and comrades, thanking the settlers for their kind hospitality. All joined in God save the King, while the soldiers stood to attention. After "Auld Lang Syne" and "They are Jolly Good Fellows" had been sung, three rousing cheers were given for our boys. Dancing then proceeded merrily till supper time, when a bountiful supply of good things were handed round, after which the dancers again took possession of the floor. Mr Mclnnes, Senr., before leaving the hall, spoke very feelingly about our soldiers who had gone out and returned back and of those who would never return again. At '> a.m. the dance broke up, and everybody departed tiTed but happy.
