WINTER SHOW

Franklin A. & P. Society General Committee A meeting of the general Committee of Franklin A. and P. Bociety, was held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday, the President, Mr J. N. Massey, presiding over an attendance of about 30 members. The proposal to hold a winter show was duly carried at the committee meeting. A letter was received from the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey thanking the Society for intimation that a general meeting of the Society would be held to consider the matter of holding a winter show in Franklin. He regretted that the pressure of Parliamentary, and other business, made it impossible for him to be present. He favoured holding a winter show. Mr Dynes Fulton seconded, and the motion was carried without discussion.

Mr Roulston then moved that the Society proceei to make the necessary arrangements to raise £IOOO for the erection of a building. In reply to a question, the secreary said the proposed building, 300 feet long and 24 feet wide, would cost roughly, £IOOO. Mr D. Fulton seconded the motion.

Mr Louden, Aka Aka, said he was in favour of the erection of a building, but advocated that it be built on such lines that it could be added to without much inconvenience. There was no doubt that a winter show would soon g.ow, and the proposed structure would not be large enough. A building of such a nature was now required for the autumn show, so that stock could be sheltered. Mr J. Roulston said he was positive that in a few years the show would outgrow the present accommodation they were proposing to build. There was no end possible for a winter show in Pukekohe, if it was worked properly. Mr Ballard supported the motion, and said an iron shed they proposed to build, would always be an asset.

In answer to Mr J B Sim, Mr D. Fulton said for the Winter Show they would have to keep separate books, to see how they stood. It would be a subsidiary society, run in conjunction with the A. and P. Society. The shed would accommodate 76 herd of cattle. The motion was carried unanimously. If the building cost about £l5O, more than was expected it would, the executive was empowered to draw that amount from the general funds to complete the structure, on the motion of Messrs Louden and Kennelly. Mr J. B. Sim moved that as the winter show was a subsidiary show, it be run by the executive of the A. and P. Society. Mr J. K. Hamilton seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. The executive is to set up a subcommittee, to draw up a set of winter show rules.

EXECUTIVE MEETINO The executive committee met, and after the minutes were read and confirmed, the meeting was adjourned until Wednesday, at 8 p.m. Messrs A. McLernon and T. McOallum, Pukekohe, were elected members. ■ Further repori Tuesday.]
