PROPOSED NEW COURTHOUSE.

Sum on the Estimates

That Pukekohe requires a new and up-to-date Courthouse is a foregone conclusion, but when tho desired change takes place without agitation, there will lie " two moons in the sky," judging by the progress m-ide in the last two years. Some time ago tho question was brought up by tho Pukekohe Clumber of Commerce, but while in Wellington in connexion with the annual Muni

cipal Conference, His Worship the Mayor (Mr C. K Laurie) interviewed the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon W F. and the Miuistor for Justice (lion. J. G Coate*' on the matter and urged that the Ministers seri mslv consider the request. He pointed Out the absolute necessity of replacing the present unsightly structure with an elaborate building. The Ministers led His Worship to understand that something would be done, and that they would reduce the proposal to writing. The Mayor has now been informed that a sum for a new building has beon placed on the estimates.
