LOWER WAIKATO R.S.A.
Success Assured Splendid Co-operation A meeting of the above was held in tie Carnival Tea Booms, the meeting being called by the Organing Committee. Present: Dr Campbell Smith (chairman), V. Morris (Hon. Sec), J. Dent, O'Mally, Jeffries The following gentlemen were present from Auokland: Mr 0. E. Elliott, president Auokland R.S.A, Mr T. Long, Auckland Committee, Mr W. Pollock organising secretary Auckland Provincial Committee, Mr 0. R. Spragg, Drury. Dr Campbell Smith opened the meeting when at his request all present stood for a moment with bowed heads in token of respect to the memory of the late Mrs Clark . The Committee then resigned. Dr Campbell-Smith was voted to the chair pro tern. Mr Pollock addressed the meeting. He said that this was the second time he had the pleasure of addressing the returned men of this district. He complimented the Organising Committee on the work of the Lower Waikato R.S A. Ho was sure from the keeness displayed by the members present, of the success of the movement Oue thing, the Lowed Waikato R.S.A could always depenr upon, was thit they would have every assistance possible from the Auckland R8 A. and would always have the strength of that Association. Resolved, " That the Lower Waikato R.S.A. be formed and tho Rules, as compiled, were then read The Rules as read being the same as those of the Auckland R.S A. and adopted by the Lower Waikato R.S A. with the exception that from rule 2, table B the word non-politi-cal was deleted. Election of officers of the Execu five: President, D»- Campbell-Smith, elected unanimously. In a humour ous speech he thanked the members, and said that in Australia, at Arrui dale, NS.W be had start, d a R.B A, of which he had boen President. He thought that as chairman of meetings he was not as brilliant as some others, but he had the welfare of the returned men at heart, and would de his best iu his official position as first President of the Lower Waikato R.S A. Three Vice Presidents were then elected: Messrs J. Dent, M. Morgan (Tuakau), C. Spragjj, Druiy; hon. solicitor, Mr W. P. Hopkins; auditor Mrß. P. Hopkins; troasurer, Mr W Hornby. Executive Committee: Messrs V. Morris, W. Fife, J. O'Mally, R. G. V. Fear, W. Barnaby, A. Boyle, W. J. Jeffries, W. Batty, A. Reay, J Qerraty, F. Shiophord, L Pullen. Mr V. Morris consented to act as the Association's hon secretary, pro tem. The rules of the Association were then handed to tho h< n solicitor to arrange for their registration. It was resolved that an inaugural Bull be held in the near future and that a committee of five be appointed from the meeting to make arrangements Bill Committee:—President, Dr. Campbell-Smith ; secretary, J. Dent; Messrs O'Hara, Short, T. Wilson, W. Fife. Mr G. E Eliott in a very able sp<vch mentioned the great pleasure it gave him o be present at this the first meeting of Lower Waikato U.S.A. and said we had the hearty good wishes of ihe Auckland R B.A and could be assured of eery assistance from that Association. Mr Long sai 1 that what he most approved of in this meeting was the very apparent desire to have all parts of the district represented pro rata, on the Executive Committee, he thought that as long as that feeling and practice was main-, tainod the smooth working of the Association was assured. A hearty vote of thanks jvas accorded to Mr V. Morris for the very able way in which he had performed the duties to the Organising Committee.
