TOWN BOARD MEETING (Staff Beporter.) The monthly meeting of the above Board was held last uight. Present: Messrs Dynes Fulton (chairman) 8., G. Geraghty, C. Finch, J. Mungall, ; ii. Lapwood, J. Pirret, and the clerk, j Mr A. H. Tapper. CONDOLENCE. A motion of sympathy was passed I with the relatives of tho lata Mrs C. Clarke, of I'ukekohe. RAILWAY RESERVE. The assistant manager of the New J Zealand Dairy Association (Mr H. j W Dent) wrote stating that his Coy ; had a lease of tho Railway Reserve | for 21 years, from December 1913, | at rental of £2O. The Coy we-ej agreeable to transferring this lease | to the Board - Held over pending a j reply from the Railway Depaitment j as to reducing the rent. MEDICAL ATTENTION. j Ihe Minister of Public Health (Hon W. G. Russell) sent a lengthy typed circular in reference to the condition of supply of district nurses and doctors. i The chairman stated that a doctor j might be secured if the Tuakau, i Onewhero, Poit Waikato and Puke- j kawa ratepayers were prepared j to rate themselves to make up any j deficiency of guarantee funds The Board also had power to grant a j subsidy to a doctor, out of the gen- j oral rate. The clerk said a doctor would i require £BOO a year. Letter received. BILLIARD SALOON. Harry D Abbott was granted a license for a billiard saloon. HIDING VALUES. The clerk of the Raglan County Council, (Mr H. Marsland), wrote advising that the value of various ridings adjacont to Pukekohe were as follows :
Pukekoho, £2X4,000; Onewhero, £459,000 ; Port Waikato, £245,000 ; Whangape, £425,000. Total, £1,303,000 Iho above was asked for in connexion with the proposal for rating to pay for the ptoposid overhead bridge. Received MAIN STItKKT CoRTS. The Board's engineer ( Mr J Kouily) advised that the costs of liie Main Street maintenance, etc, from railway to Pirret's wore as follows : Costs prior to preparing for laying tho centie of Liverpool and (ioo go Ktieets: Foiuiation for kerbs and paths, laying drains, say, £100; cesf-pi s, £l7 5.<; ktrbs, £3.5912s 2d; grates and frames, say £2O; pipes, £2O; footpaths, including two sprayings and sanding £(132 9s fid. Board asking for an entrance to be made to his property wheio the Board had made excavations. The plans, petitioner considered, should have been submitted to property owners before the excavations were made. He was now entitled to compensation, at cording to his solicitor's advice. The Board's work had depreciated his piopcrty. MrGLapwood: i am prepared to buy your property now, cash down, for what you gave for it. No sale. Mr Gubb dwelt on the various inconveniences he had suffered. On the motion of Mr Pirret, it was decided that the Board and engineer inspect the place, with a view to meeting applicant's wishes.
