TUAKAU OVERHEAD BRIDGE
Public Meeting. The highly impoitant subject, tho proposed overhead bridge ovor tho railway at Tuakau came up for discussion at Tuesday night's moeting of tho Tuakau Town Board, when letters were received from the Franklin and Raglan County Council?, stating that in regard to the financial assistance asked for by the Board, it would bo advisable to ask for a Commission to allocate the cost. The Clubman, Mr Dynes Fulton, agreed with the abive, and urged the necessity of calling a public meeting to explain the whole project. The bridge i'lelf, to cover the rails only, would bo built and paid Lr by the Railway Department, so that its cost did not concorn the local bodies But tho approaches, which included smaller budges or culverts, would cost about i'.'ioOO. To pay this, it was hoped that both the counties would contribute, according to the Commissioner's allotment, and Tuakau also would have to hoar its shaie. The ridings in the Raglan County to be asked to contribute wore; Pukekawa, Onewhero, and Whangapehi. In Franklin the area would be : Adamson's corner to Tuakau, all the Eastern side of that road, and to tho South road the boundary road betweon Barnaby's and the railway lino, down tho stream to Black's bridge, and to the ri<w, all on the Eastern side, Pukekohe East riding.
