TUAKAU PROPOSED RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION
Siu, —Yon might allow men little space in your paper to point out to tUn ratepayers of Tuakau the need of a ratepayers' asssociation. Wo have all been watching the course of events llnough the columns of the Times, ami we see that a new member of the Town Board draws the Board's attention to the fact that a contract had boon signed by the Chairman and a member without their being authorised to do such, which was a breach of the Act. Previous to this the new member drew the Board's attention to a contract, undated, in the office, alterations in pen and ink, uninitialled, and the stamps being uncancelled, and got the same attended to. ITn lias shown us that the Board won't take legal advice on the illegally sigaod contract of Smeed's, which he disputes Apparently he is not allowed to speak against an amendment made on the subject. (Why this gagging). It ia quite plain to us that thero is somothing wrong with the procedure Now rally up (there are some member? we could do without). Lot us create a Ratepayers' Association, in order that we may be able to assist Mr Mungall in a body. He has the support of the Ratepayers and residents, as a whole, except the Board members, tuU we are powerless until we form this association. A SPORT Tuakau, August Bth, l!>19.
