The Times. PUBUSHED ON TUESDAY AND FRIDAY AFTERNOONS. "We nothing extenuate, nor set down aught in malice. " FRIDAY. JULY 20. 1919 FRANKLIN PEACE CELEBRATIONS.

♦ The manner in which the Peace was celebrated in the various centres ot the Franklin County must be considered as being very gratifying and commendable. Of course, with events on such a large scale, there was bound to be a certain number of anomalies, and little hitches here and there, but, on the whole, the arrangements worked remarkably smoothly, reflecting credit on all who directed and assisied in the various functions. As the central town, Pukekohe rose well to the occasion, the people being enthusiastic and extremely sociable and helpful throughoat. The procession and sports on Saturday, the formal ceremony at the Domain, and the banquet in the evening, are things the people of the town and co-operating places might well be proud of, and the same statement applies to the (Jnited Churches Services on Sunday, and the sports, picture shows, and concert, on Monday. Judging by the reports to hand fromTuakau, Papatoetoe, Clevedon. Manmewa, Mauugatawhiri, Pokeno, and other places, the celebrations were, in proportion to the populations of these towns and districts, equally praiseworthy. The Franklin County may justly be congratulated on having done its loyal duty, and given due homage to all military, nav;d, and civil unit concerned, in -i manner worthy of the great and memorable occasion. ■ -
