MANURES THAT PAY Farmers and market gardeners of this country make much less use of artificial manures than do the peoples of some of the European countries, and this is probably due to the fact that a bountiful soil, such as we have out here, does not necessitate the hard work that is required in the more inhospitable Northern European countries. In Europe the conditions of living are such that intense cultivation becomes a necessity, and when a man is forced to secure a living for his family from perhaps an acre of poor ground, he is naturally forced to a closer study of his soil. Thus, in recent years, great c tridos have been made in the study of artificial manuring, and we are today on the threshold of a new science, and it is beginning to be realised that to mike their land pay FARMERS MUST MANURE. From experiments conducted in various countries, it has beon demonstrated conclusively that proper plant feeding produces analagous results to proper animal feeding, and the progressive farmer of to-day is the farmer who is making a study of his land and its requirement*, and who is manuring accordingly. In Pukekohe and surrounding districts you have a soil particularly well adapted to the use of fertilizers, and the crops that are produced through the scientific handling of the soil in these pans has earned tor the district the name of " The Garden of Auckland.' 1 From our own experience, we would go further and say that Pukekohe district is The Garden 01 \'ew Zealand," is there is no spnt in New Zealand thai can rival it in production, or r better ad apted to scientific farming ihnn ibis district is. We have fur years made a pc-cinliiv .■: artificial manures, and, as these have -;lood the test of public opinion, there i' no need to more than draw yt>ui at'en tion to the fact that we are again able to offer tlie best quality at the most rea-on ;\hk- prices to onr numerous clients. our Special Potato Manures con tain a percentage of Sulphate of Potash, and, as this is practically uuohtainahl*' elsewhere, it makes these mixings par tieularU valuable at the present time. Owing to the strike in Australia, we have not, unfortunateK, been able to get as much Bonedust a, we wanted, and, a> our bookings for Bonedust and Potato Manures are already fairly heavy we would advise you to book well ahead. so as to make certain of securing supplies. Price lists will be forwarded on application, and, as usual, we fully guarantee all our lines. We will be pleased to have your en quiries, but at the same time we tell you candidly that there is every prospect ot a serious shortage in seme lines, particu larly Bonedust and Potash, and you would be wise, therefore, to decide what your requirements are. and book \our orders without delay.
