HOSPITAL CONTRIBUTIONS
Franklin County Figures For some time past a question that has been causing much curiosity, especially among those in favour of the establishment of a Hospital in Pukekohe, is that of the amount of the contributions from the various local bodies in the Franklin County contribute annually to the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Although approximate amounts were given none really knew what the actual amount was.
During the past year the Hospital levy on the local bodies amounted to l-6thof a penny in the £. Offing to the heavy expenditure entailed, and the expenditure to be met this year, the Auckland Hospital Board has increased the levy from 1-Oth to ]-sth of a penny in the £. At the meeting of the Franklin County Council on Thursday a schedule of the amounts levied for the year ending March 31st 1920 was submitted. It disclosed that the rateable value of the Franklin County Council area was £3,581,929, Papakura Town Board £198,035, Pukekohe Borough Council £471,749, Tuakau Town Board £102,370, and Waiuku Town Board £129,993.
The amounts allocated to be paid by the local authority were based on a l-sth of a penny, and were shown as follows:

The Clerk, Mr Alan P. Day, said that the Council's contribution last year was £2,509, while this year the amount was£47s more, or £2,984. The letter was received.
