HOCKEY.
That Franklin possesses some hockey players as good as the best of the Auckland secondrgrede players was evidenced at the seven-a-side hockey tournament held at Remuera on King's Birthday. The team representing Franklin (which played under the name of Pukekohe) consisted of Luke Williams, W. G. Flaveil, E. Williams (Pukekohe); G. Howe, H. Hay, (Patumahoe), and T. Conroy, and R. Woodman (Glenbrook). The reps, met University, and defeated the students by 3 goals - scored by Conroy (2) and Wood man—to nil. The team met North Shore in die semi-final, and each side scored one goal, Conroy netting for Pukekohe. Eventually, the town team won by a long corner, and annexed the championship in the final. Pukekohe did very well in getting so close to championship honours. Pukekohe v. Glenbrook. On May 31st the above teams met, and the game ended in t draw, each side scoring two goals. Flavell and Srembridge netting for Pukekohe, « hile Conroy floored twice for Glenbrook. Pamuahoe, 9; Glenbrook, 0 Patumahoe met Glenbrook on Saturday, and won by uiue goalsscored by Howard (3), Hay (2), Pleydell (3>, and GoMing. During the game, Woodinau, of sustained a broken collar-bone. Mr Flavell proved an impartial referee.
