ALFRISTON-BROOKBY.
A meeting of Alfriston-Brookbv residents was 'held in the Hall on Monday, May 10th. to receive the report of the' Memorial to Fallen Boldiers committee, Mr D A. Reid prtsidiug. The secretary read the report, outlining the merits and dements of th« six suggestions that had been forwarded for consideration, with the result that the committee recommended that a recreation ground of not less than five acres be procured if possible. We realize the district is in need of sucb, aud as such it can 1 e banded on from generation to generation as a memorial to those who died that we might live from tyrants free.
Offers have bren receivi d of two eligible properties, and the following weie appointed to act, with power to add to their number, to endeavour to bring the suggestion to a successful issur:—Messrs 1) A. Ruid (chairman}, W. T Smith, J. Btiddock, J. Muir, J. Embling, G. Mdnnes, and H. Moody (actiug-secietary.')
