ALFRISTON-BROOKBY.
HOUSEHOLDERS MEETING
The apathy of the householders was exemplified at the annual meeting of householders to elect a school committee, held at Alfriston Monday last April 28th, the attendance numbering eight. The minutes and balance sheet were duly passed and adopted. The balance sheet showed a good balance in hand. The usual report of the progress and management of the school was conspicuous by its absence. At a subsequent meetirg Mr W. T. Smith was re-elected chairman Owing to the refusal of acceptance of the office of secretary and treasurer by the remaining committee, the chairman agreed to accept the duties of the whole. The chairman reported that their first meeting would be held on Friday next, at No 1 school. The principal business to consider was what steps shall be taken in regard to Peace Celebrations. Mr Aicken suggested that for the ensuing year all committee meetings be held at. No 1 school, Brookby, offing to no representative from Alfiiston. The following were duly elected without ballot: Messrs W. T Smith, chairman, secretary and treasurer, P. Aitkin, T. Austin, J. Briddock and E. Coppins.
