FARMERS' CO OPERATIVE AUCTIONEERING COY. LTD

In accordance with numerous requests, the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Cop. Ltd. has decided to extend and develop their merchandise business in the districts north of Mercer. This company was formed by the Waikato farmers in 1908, and it has rapidly developed into one of the largest co-operatives in the Dominion with an annual turn-over of two million sterling. The Company has nine branches and conducts stock sales in 26 centres south of Mercer, and covers in its active operations a territory of 14,000 square miles. The number of shareholders have increased from 735 to 3637 ; and since its inception it has distributed dividends and rebates in cash amongst the shareholders who are practically all Waikato farmers the sum of £195,931. In addition to this a strong reserve fund of £51,534 has been built up. (n order to cope With the increasing business the authorised capital has been raised from £300,000. to £750,000. ¥({.)€■ $6 The company are just completing a modern wool and merchandise jtore in Auckland, which when completed, will give: a floof space of nearly 70,000 eguare feet, and the North Auckland Farmers' Co-op. Ltd., with whom the Waikato Company work in close co-operation, have secured the adjoining site, and they will also erect a. similar war* house alongside, so that these two big companies can work in conjunction with each other to the advantage of their respective shareholders. Recently the Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co: Ltd. together with their North Auckland friends and the Farmers' Co ops of Tokomaru Bay, Gisborre, Hawkes Bay, Wellington, Taranaki, Canterbury, South Canterbury/ Otago and Southlaud, formed a large wholesale comgany known as the NZ. Farmers' lo op. Wholesale Federation Ltd with the object of concentrating as much as possible the whole of the Dominion farmers' purchases through the one channel, so that the farmers can command the best, possible quotations which manufacturers can offer. The Federation have a London office and will also open offices in other cities throughout the world, and they will bring the N.Z. farmers into direct touch with the sources of supply and distribution. The Federation havo already secured for ihe Co-ops. the sole N.£. agency for the Hupmobile motor cars, and they have arranged with Messrs A. and G. Price, Thames, to put on the market a 2£ h.p. benzine engine, which is especially manu factured to fulfil the requirements of the N.Z. farmer, and the fact that it is a product of A. and G. Price is sufficient guarantee that it will be second to none on the market. In addition to these several other valuable agencies have been secured. Mr Wm. H. Hawke. of Pukekohe has been appointed local representative for the Co-op. and he will accept orders and give, quotations for the various lines that are handled.

The Farmers* Co-op. are not in any way connected with Laidlaw Leeds, or the Farmers' Union Trading Co. but owing to the similarity in names, correspondence frequently reaches the wrong destination. Farmers should take particular note and always address correspondence •end orders- intended for this Company to the Fanners' Co op B< x MB, Auckland.
