PAPAKURA.

A special meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held on Monday of last week when there were present : Messrs D W. Jones (chairman), T. D. Campbell, W N Mcintosh, E D. McLennan, S Evans and Dr. A W. P. Brookfield, with the Clerk (Mr Havold Wilson). The Engineer's report in connection with the proposed road works was considered and discussed at length it wai decided to place the Engineer's estimates for Settlement Road and Marne Road formation full widrh 16 feet oi metalling and Stock Road formation full width and with metal 12 feet wide, before the ratopajers for a losn poll. As regards the Great South Road proposal it was decided to submit the alternative scheme, of 16 feet of concrete in centre with two feet of metal on eirher side and macadam of 20 feet width. The estimate for the latter was not available for publication on account of it being returned to be amended but we understand that macadam is the cheaper process. It was decided to explain the whole matter to a meeting of ratepayers on Friday next preparatory to a poll being taken. Surveyors are at present engaged taking levels from the Papakura Township to the proposed intake at the Hnnua Gorge, in connection with the proposed water supply for the town district of Papakura.
