STOCK SALE REPORT

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report On Thursday of last week, at Tuakau, we held our second sheep fair in that district, when more than the advertised number came forward. Prices showed a Blight decline on the previous fair, but we report a most successful sale, everything changing hands with the exception of one draft of 200 f.m. ewes. The yarding was chiefly composed of aged ewes. There was an improved demand for ox beef, with values very firm. Cows were easier except in odd cases of extra prime. Choice ox sold to £2 10s 6d per 1001b ; prime ox, £2 7s fid to £'2 10s per 1001b; rough and ordinary beef, £1 15s to to £2 3s per 1001b ; cow and heifer beef. £2 to £2 6s per 1001b. Steers ranged in price from £lO 10s to £22 7s 6d for a pen of four steers from Messrs J. Massey and Son, Pukatutu Island, Mangere : cows and heifers £6 15s to £ls 12s Gd. There was again a large yarding of sheep and a steady demand throughout. Prime wether mutton was not plentiful aad sold at slightly better values. Other classes were unchanged.
