SUCKLAND'S WAR MEMORIAL
(To the Editor.) Sib—ln Friday's issue of yotlr paper there was an advertisement re a public meeting to be held in Buckland about erecting a memorial for " Our Boys.'* As it is impossible for me to be present and the advertisement says that we are t» hold onr tongues after Friday I wish to, before that day, say or rather write a few words. My only claim is that I am the teacher of nearly all of our Buckland boys My first suggestion is that the Committee set up to arrage the matter consist of either (1) only the parents of boys who have gone to the front, or (2) boys who have been to the front, or (3) parents of soldiers and returned boys combined. Those of us who do not come under 1 or 2 to have the privilege of paying for the memorial. Personally I would like a granite or marble column bearing names etc. either between the station and store or at the top end of my farm opposite the church, where I would be pleased to gi?e & section. —Xours etc., n. n. d. wilt Buckland, 28 Jan. 1919
