STOCK SALE REPORT
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report: On Tuesday, at Papakura, we had an average yarding for the time of the year. All classes of stock were sold under the hammer at slightly improved rates. No grown steers were yarded. Two to 3 ye»~ steers, £8 to £l2 5s j yearling to io-month steers, £4 17s 6d to £7 16s ; steer calves, £2 15s to £4 10s; heifer calves, £2 5s to £3 15s; inferior calves, 15s to £2 2s; yearling to 18-month heifers, £4 to £7 2s; empty cows and heifers, £6 10s to £9 128 6d; inferior and aged cows, £2 15s to £5 17s 6d; heifers suitable for dairj purposes, £6 10s to £7 15s; bulls, £7 to £ls ss; according to weight aud quality. Dairy cattle penned in average numbers and sold at high rates. Best dairy cows £l2 10 to £lB, others £9 to £ll 15 8 ; best heifers, £ll to £l4 10s ; others £8 to £lO 15s. Beef sold at fully Westfield prices. Small fat steers to £l4 5s ; cows to £l3. At Westbeld fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in average numbers, and although no extra heavy weights were yarded, the quality was good. Choice ox sold to £2 lis per lOOlbs; others, £2 8s to £2 10s; cow and heifer beef sold at from £2 4s to £2 9s per lOOlbs. Bteers sold at from £ls to £22 12s 6d; cows and heifers, £9 to £l6 7s 6d. Some of the averages were—B steers from Mr H. Mas*ey, Wairere, £2l 12s 6d; 18 steers from Messrs H. and J. Goodfellow, Panmure, £2O; 17 steers from Mr M Harding, Panmure, £l7 ; 8 steers from Waikato,-\ e lB lis 9d; 9 cowa from Waikoto, £l2 15s 6d; 8 cows from Papakura, £l3 Is 6i. Calves were yarded in increased numbers, and showed a marked improvement over last week. Runners sold from £4 15s to £7 ; heavy vealers, £3 to £4 12s 6d; medium, £2 2s 6d to £2 17s 6d; light, 27s 6d to £2; small and fresh-dropped, 6s to 25s Sheep were penned in average numbers, the market showing a firmer tone than last sales, although quotations are the same. Best wether?, £1 12s9dto £1 15s 3d; others, £1 9s to £1 12s 6d ; inferior and unfinished, £l 2s to £1 8s 9d; best ewes, £1 7sto£l9s9d; others, £\ to£l 6s 9d ; aged and inferior ewes, 6s to 18s; hoggets, best, £l 4s to £1 9s 6d ; others, 18s to £1 3s 9d ; inferior, 13s to 17s 6d. Lambs in average numbers sold at improved prices, Best, £1 3s 3d to £1 7s; others, 18s 6d to £1 3s; inferior, 13s to 17s 9d. Pigs yarded in shorter numbers than usual, and met with very brisk demand at advanced rates. Largs choppers and heavy baconers made from £5 10s to £6 4s; small choppers and light baconers, £4s 4s to £5 ss; large porkers, £3 14s to £4 ; medium, £3 to £3 12s 6d ; small, £2 7s 6d to £2 17s 6d.
