MARAMARUA.

SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL The Maramarua branch of the Overseas Club held a social in the hall on December 26: hj, in aid of a fund for a monument to be erected in memory of the fallen soldiers. The hill was beau'ifully decorated by Mr and Miss M■•lanes and visiting friends Large numbers of people journeyed from Waerenga, M'lingatawbiri, and other neighbouiing dis tricts. Songs were contributed by Miss Gauntlett (of Pap ira'.a), uud by Mrs and Miss Mclnnes. MrsT S. C. McElroy gave a nuaib-ir of surprise packets, which realised a large amount of money. Mr Mclnnes, as master of ceremonies, entertained the guests in his usual able manner Music was supplied by Mrs Mclnnes and Mrs Clarke, and dancing was kept up till the early hours of the morning.
