PAPAKURA,. By advertisement in this issue Mr D. Beaton, proprietor of the Dominion motor garage, Papakura, informs motorists that the services of a skilled mechanic are always available at his establishment for repairs, etc., first class work being guaranteed At the special meeting of the Papakura Town Board held last week a large number of _ accounts were presented in connection with the temporary Hospital that was established to .cope with the influenza epidemic, and it was agreed, on the proposal of Mr T. D. Campbell, seconded by Mr W. M. Mcintosh, to forward the accounts to the Auckland Hospital Board with the intimation that they had been submitted to the Town Board. PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD. A special meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held last week to discuss matters in connection with sanitary affairs, when there were present—Messrs D. W. Jones (a«tingChairman), T. D. Campbell, W. N. Mcintosh, S Evans, E. D. McLennan, and Dr. A W P. Brookfield, with the Clerk (Mr Harold Wilson.) It was decided on the motion of Mr Mcintosh, seconded by Dr Brookfield, that the Clerk should communicate with the Public Health Department and obtain its opinion regarding the method of burying nightsoil as arranged with the contractor. The agreement is to the effect that the contractor is to bury ~& 7 nightsoil at the depot provided by * the Corporation. With regard to clause 27 of the agreement, which states that the contractor shall forfeit his deposit if he does not complete the contract, it was resolved that the contractor, should be asked to fulfil the terms of the clause. . With reference to unoccupied buildings, Mr Jones moved that all premises unoccupied for a period of three months or more should have the charges refunded This was seconded by Mr McLennan, and agreed to. The question of whether there should be a separate service where there was a shop and dwelling combined was brought up, and after lengthy discussion it was decided on the motion of Dr Brrokfield, sec mded by Mr Evans, that where one family is living in, and is in control of both dwelling And (-hop in the onetpcemises, the same shall be trea|?d »■ one dwelling; if any persons outsido the family are employed in the shop, one or more conveniences to be provided according to sex; shops or offices on the one flat and in the one premises to have one convenience each for males and females according to stx employed. Mr Jones moved, and it was carried, that all hotels and boardinghouses be provided with one or moro convenience for each sex, with two services per week. It was resolved that all shops and offices provide conveniences for each sex, male and female, with one service per week. A number of applications for exemption from sanitary service were dealt with. Messrs Willis Bros wrote protesting against the charge made for the motor garage during the period which it was unoocupied. was agreed to refund the amount charged viz , 7s 6d. but it was decided that Messrs Willis Bros, should he notified that they must provide a convenience withoutdelay
