PAPATOETOE.

The postponed Onewhero flow r show and industrial exhibition is to be held on Wednesday, January 8 h. Schedules can be obtained on application to the Secretary, or to Mr J. T. Stembridge, Pukekohe.

Mr W. Outfield, of Papatoetoe, recently purchased the property formerly owned by Mr L. Spencer, of Mangere, at a figure satisfactory to both parties. Mr E. Kemp, of Papatoetoe, has commenced building operations on Harrison Estate. Modern bungalows, with up-to-date conveniences, are being erected. Mr S. Docherty, who has been seriously ill for the past six weeks is making rapid progress towards recovery. The Papatoetoe Orchestral Society has decided to suspend practises until after the holidays. Practises will be resumed on Monday, January 13th. What might have proved a very serious accident occurred on the Great South Road at Papatoetoe on Tuesday of last week Mr W. Boberts, nurseryman, was riding a strange horse from Otahuhu to Papatoeloe, when for some unknown reason and without warning the animal commenced bucking violently with the result that the rider was thrown heavily on to the metalled road He received injuries about the head and face, as also a sprained wrist and minor skin abrasions. Under the circumstances Mr Boberts was lucky to escape as lightly as he did. Two large bungalows, each of eight rooms, are in the course of erection on Wiley Park Estate opposite the railway station. The buildings are being erected in up-to-date style. The work in connection with the new railway station at Papatoetoe is progressing apace and it is expected to have it well on the road to completion in about five months' time. At present a large staff of men is being employed on the job. Mr Herbert Masters has purchased the farm owned by Mr Morgan of Manurewa. The new owner took up his residence there this week.
