KARAKA.
DEATH OP MISS BATTY. We much regret to record the death, which occurred at a private hospital in Auckland yesterday, of Mias Sarah Batty, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Batty, of Karaka The deceased lady, who was 28 years of age, had been under treatment for an internal trouble for some little time, and had undergone an operation. She had been making steady progress towards recovery but a relapse ensued, and she passed away as stated. The late Miss Batty was always to the front in all patriotic work, and was a general favourite wherever she went Her resourcefulness was eminently revealed when, with labour scarce and her two brother away at the front, she engaged in manual toil on her father's farm and even carried out most arduous agricultural duties. The greatest sympathy is extended on all sides to the bereaved parents in the irretrievable loss they have sustained. At the present time Mrs Batty is a patient in the same hospital in which her daughter died, but her illness is not of a serious nature.
