In reference to the recent Miss Janet Hancock, which whilst she was assisting in fighting! the ravages of the influenza epi- " demic it appears that the public have been under a misapprehension in connection with the deceased lady being at Kilbryde hospital in Auckland instead of' at her post at 8t Mary's Home at having m been suggested by*some irrespon- i sible people that/ Miss Hancock should never have |pft the Home in view of the strong ifrevalence of the disease there. % In moving at of the vestry of theChurch on Monday motion of appreciation of Hancock's noble life and wotk the Rev. H Mason stated that when volunteers were called for nurses at Kilbryde it was arranged that Sister Bennett, assistant Matron at St. Mary's, should go. Miss Hancock accompanied her in an advisory capacity with no intention of remaining at Kilbryde, but when she arrived there however, Miss Hancock at once detected a deplorable l a °k ot efficiency prevailing at the institution. With cases and the staff capable of coping with the difficulties Miss Hancock had cofMyjj sidered it her duty to remain so as to render all the help possible although by so doing she had sacrificed her life. Mr Mason added that the late Miss Hancock had often j expressed a desire that when the call » came to her she should be* buried near the of thws children for whom she her life. He was pleased to announce that after some little difficulty that desire bad been accomplished. The rev. gentlemafl also mentioned that he had arranged for a memorial service to be held in the Anglican Church at 11 o clock next Sunday.

The sale of work in connection with the Anglican Church which had been arranged for last month and was postponed owing to the influenza epidemic is to be held at the latter end of April. A flower and vegetable / show in aid of the same cause will ) take place about Easter time.
