OTAHUHU.

OTAHUHU MAGISIRATE'S COURT. The usual monthly sitting of the Otahuhu Magistrate's Crort took place yesterday, Mr F K Hunt, 8.M., being on tho Bench. The possessor of a prohibition order was fined £1 and costs for having obtained liquor during the currency of the term of his order. Henry Herbert Dyer, the licensee of the Panmure Hotel, was charged with Laving failed on demand to supply refreshments to a traveller. The facts of tho case were that a resident of the Favona Estate, Otahuhu, and his wife, whilst driving over to Ho wick on Labour Day, called at the hotel about 11.15 am , and asked to be served with a couple of cups of tea, the reply forthcoming being that they could not be supplied until 12 noon, the usual meal hour. The Magistrate entered a conviction, accompanied by a fine of £l. In a civil action for possession of a cottage at Panmure, an order was made against the occupant for surrender of the premises within a month.

Otahuhu is now practically free of influenza, and only one patient is still under treatment at the convalescent home at Constable Moss' residence. This case is likely to be discharged about Thursday next. The epidemic was, however, responsible for the death at his residence in Huia Road, on Saturday last, of Mr Robert Holland. The deceased, who was 60 years of age, suddenly expired. He had journeyed to the city in the morning, apparently in his usual good health, but when he returned home by the train, shortly after midday, he expressed inability to partake of dinner. Fie ask*! for some water, and shortly after drinking the same he suddenly expired. For many years the late Mr Holland lived at flobsonville, where he was engaged in the brick and tile business. Disposing of his property there, he acquired a piece of land in Buia Road of several acres. During his residence in Otahuhu he did a good deal of contracting when the borough adopted a system of drainage and sewerage Deceased is survived by a widow, two daughters, and two sons, both of the latter being away serving their country in France. Deep regret is felt for the widow and family in their bereavement.
