COUNTY COUNCIL VACANCY
(To the Editor.) Sir, —As it would in every way be to Manurewa's advantage to be represented on the Manukau County Council by a local resident so that the district roads should receive more attention than in the past may I suggest that one or other of our two local candidates should withdraw in the other's favour. Both are good men and would make capable Councillors but it seems folly for the two of them to go to the poll and by splitting the local Tote to bring about their defeat and the consequent loss of the opportunity of direct representation on the Council. Could not a spin of the coin be arranged to decide which should retire and which should proceed with his candidature ? Ambition to become a County Councillor is not a thing to be discouraged but in this instance public interests are at stake and I hope Messrs Corin and Pegler will agree to play the game in the way I suggest.—Yours etc, MANUREWA RATEPAYER ✓ c / •
